Early Tuesday morning in the Gilo neighborhood of Jerusalem, a group of yeshiva students successfully prevented military police from arresting a fellow student accused of evading mandatory military service. The police, acting on orders after the student failed to report for recruitment, were met by an organized group summoned through a phone alert system. The students dressed the individual in a hat and suit to blend in with the crowd, then helped him escape by car. The police ultimately withdrew from the area, concerned that further attempts could spark unrest and escalate tensions.
