The Security Cabinet has approved a series of measures aimed at expanding Israel's administrative and legal control over the West Bank. These steps include making land registration records public, repealing a Jordanian-era law that restricted land sales to Jews, and reinstating a state body to facilitate government land purchases for future development. Building licensing authority in the Jewish settlement area of Hebron has been transferred to Israeli planning institutions, streamlining construction approvals around key religious sites.
The cabinet also decided to extend Israeli supervision and enforcement into Areas A and B, focusing on water, environmental, and archaeological issues. Additionally, a new municipal administration will manage the Rachel's Tomb complex in Bethlehem. Government ministers described these moves as part of a broader effort to normalize life for Jewish residents and solidify Israel's presence in the territory.
