He credited his faith for helping him stay grounded and said he refused to let external pressures distract him in the ring. Although he prefers to keep politics out of sports, Gordon said the situation escalated when his opponent introduced political elements, leaving him determined to respond through his performance.

Gordon expressed pride in representing Israel and the Jewish people, saying he was honored to step into the ring openly wearing a kippah and tzitzit. He added that Israeli soldiers in Gaza watched the fight and that he hoped his victory gave them strength and inspiration.
