Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's upcoming visit to Israel is expected to open a new phase in bilateral relations, according to India's ambassador to Israel. The trip, Modi's first to Israel in nearly nine years, is being described as historic in both symbolism and substance, with plans for him to address the Knesset and meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Isaac Herzog.
The visit is set to broaden and deepen cooperation between the two countries, expanding beyond existing sectors into finance, trade, cross-border payments, science, agriculture, research and development, cultural ties, and defense. A major focus will be advanced and emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and quantum technologies, combining India's scale with Israel's innovation ecosystem.
Officials say the leaders will also discuss regional and global issues, reflecting the strategic weight of the partnership. With bilateral trade reaching nearly $4 billion in 2024 and new agreements expected across multiple sectors, the visit is intended to provide a roadmap for a more ambitious and integrated future relationship.
