The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange closed sharply lower on Tuesday, led by steep declines in insurance and banking shares. The Tel Aviv 35 Index dropped 1.75 percent to 4,169 points, while the Tel Aviv 125 Index fell 2.10 percent to 4,116.35 points. The BlueTech Global Index slipped 0.96 percent, and the All Bond corporate bond index edged down 0.17 percent. Equity turnover totaled 4.65 billion shekels, with 6.01 billion shekels traded in bonds.
Insurance companies recorded some of the heaviest losses of the day. Migdal Insurance and Financial Holdings plunged 8.73 percent, while Menora Mivtachim Holdings fell 8.66 percent. Clal Insurance Enterprise Holdings dropped 7.89 percent and Phoenix Finance declined 6.81 percent. Other notable decliners included Next Vision and Enlight Renewable Energy.
On the foreign exchange market, the representative shekel dollar rate fell 0.288 percent to 3.114 shekels per dollar, and the representative shekel euro rate declined 0.253 percent to 3.669 shekels per euro.
