Prime Minister Narendra Modi has departed for a two-day State visit to Israel aimed at further consolidating the strategic partnership between the two countries. He is scheduled to hold extensive talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, focusing on deepening cooperation in science and technology, innovation, agriculture, water management, defence and security, trade and investment, and people-to-people ties.
During the visit, Modi will also meet Israeli President Isaac Herzog and become the first Indian Prime Minister to address the Israeli Parliament, the Knesset. The programme includes delegation-level talks, a private dinner hosted by Netanyahu, participation in an innovation event in Jerusalem, and a joint visit to the World Holocaust Remembrance Center.
Defence collaboration is expected to be a key area of discussion, with Israel remaining a major supplier of military platforms and systems to India. Economic engagement will also feature prominently, including progress toward a free trade agreement and a bilateral investment pact. The leaders are set to exchange views on regional and global developments, including tensions in West Asia, while reaffirming their commitment to strengthening long-term strategic ties.
