A former student leader at the University of California, Santa Barbara has filed a lawsuit against the school, alleging months of antisemitic harassment and abuse. Tessa Veksler, who is Jewish, said she was doxxed and targeted with hateful messages, including being called a 'Zionist dog,' after she publicly condemned the October 7 massacre carried out by Hamas.
According to the lawsuit, threatening signs were posted on campus naming her directly, including one that read, 'You can run, but you can't hide Tessa Veksler.' The complaint states that she faced daily harassment while carrying out her duties, including walking past hostile displays near her office.
The suit accuses the university of failing to take action despite repeated pleas for help, claiming administrators left her to face escalating abuse for months. The university is among dozens of institutions previously warned by the United States Department of Education that they could risk losing federal funding over their handling of antisemitic incidents.
