The head of the Shin Bet said he accepts the agency’s internal investigation into the Simchat Torah massacre, acknowledging a severe professional failure while firmly rejecting claims of betrayal or cooperation with attackers. He stated that it is clear there was no misconduct or collusion by the Shin Bet or any member of the broader security establishment.

He emphasized that while the findings point to serious shortcomings, there is no dispute over the investigation’s conclusions. According to him, the agency must work continuously to correct mistakes, internalize lessons, and address remaining issues that still require examination.
