A notorious Israeli criminal, long regarded as one of the country’s most feared killers, was captured in Paris decades after a series of brutal crimes and dramatic escapes. In 1985, alongside his cellmate Shmaya Angel, he murdered inmate Haim Shushan, stabbing him 131 times over suspicions that Shushan intended to implicate Angel’s wife. Both men received additional life sentences for the killing.
In 1988, he carried out a brazen escape from Beersheba Prison by overpowering an inmate and a medic, calling an ambulance and leaving the facility disguised as a patient. He then commandeered a family home, forced two occupants to accompany him by taxi and even gave a live radio interview while on the run, cementing his reputation for audacity and violence.
