Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Israel and the United States had launched a joint military campaign against Iran, describing it as an effort to remove what he called an existential threat. In a video address from Jerusalem, he said the operation, named Operation Lion's Roar, aims to end the danger posed by Iran's ruling leadership.

Netanyahu accused Iran of attempting to rebuild its nuclear and missile capabilities and warned that failure to act immediately would leave the country invulnerable. He framed the strikes as necessary to prevent Iran from advancing toward a nuclear weapon.

He also urged the Iranian public to establish what he described as a new and free Iran. Iranian media reported that strikes occurred across the country, with the first reported near the offices of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
