An Iranian missile struck a residential neighborhood in Beit Shemesh, killing nine people and injuring dozens in the deadliest attack in Israel during the current conflict. The blast destroyed a synagogue, heavily damaged a public shelter, and ripped through surrounding homes, leaving streets covered in shattered glass, twisted metal, and chunks of concrete.
Residents described a sudden explosion that sent shrapnel tearing through safe rooms and living spaces. Entire walls collapsed, roofs were blown apart, and cars along the street were left with smashed or missing windshields. Emergency crews searched building after building for survivors as helicopters circled overhead and evacuation centers were set up nearby.
Many residents, some still in pajamas, wandered in shock among the ruins. Elderly evacuees wrapped in blankets waited at bus stops with their belongings, while medics treated the wounded and continued to recover bodies from the debris. Authorities warned that the death toll could still rise as search operations continued at multiple impact sites.
