Iranian suicide drone smashes into British expat Dubai apartment

An Iranian suicide drone struck a British expatriate's apartment in Dubai as Iran launched widespread retaliatory attacks across the Middle East following the killing of its Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in a joint United States and Israeli airstrike. The resident said the drone hit his 19th floor flat in the Warda apartment complex, while other strikes damaged major landmarks including the Burj Al Arab and Palm Jumeirah hotels. Dubai authorities confirmed three civilian deaths and dozens of injuries as debris and intercepted drones caused fires and structural damage across the city.

Iran’s campaign has targeted United States allies throughout the region, with missiles and drones hitting sites in Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Iraq, Oman and Israel. Airports have been damaged, oil facilities set ablaze and an oil tanker struck near the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran has closed, disrupting global shipping. In Israel, at least ten people were killed, while additional casualties were reported in Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.

The United States confirmed three service members were killed and five seriously wounded during the escalating conflict. Iranian officials vowed further retaliation, while President Donald Trump warned of unprecedented force if attacks continue. World leaders urged restraint as airspace closures and thousands of cancelled flights left the region on edge amid fears of a broader war.
