Two people were killed and 14 others injured early Sunday when a gunman opened fire outside a bar in Austin, Texas, in what authorities are investigating as a possible act of terrorism. Police said the suspect drove past the establishment multiple times before shooting from the window of his sport utility vehicle at people gathered outside, then exited the vehicle with a rifle and continued firing. Officers at the scene shot and killed the attacker.

Three of the wounded were reported in critical condition. Authorities said the suspect was wearing clothing displaying an Iranian flag design and the words 'Property of Allah.' The attack came one day after the United States and Israel launched strikes on Iran.

The suspect was identified as 53-year-old Ndiaga Diagne, originally from Senegal. The Department of Homeland Security said he entered the United States in 2000 on a tourist visa, later became a lawful permanent resident, and was naturalized as a citizen in 2013. The Federal Bureau of Investigation said indicators found on the suspect and in his vehicle prompted investigators to examine a possible terrorism motive, while Texas Governor Greg Abbott vowed a strong response to any threats linked to the Middle East conflict.
