Iran's participation in the upcoming World Cup matches hosted in the United States is in doubt as military tensions escalate between Iran, the United States, and Israel. The head of Iran's football federation said recent attacks have made it difficult for the national team to look ahead to the tournament with optimism.
Iran is scheduled to play group stage matches in California and Washington state as part of the tournament co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. However, uncertainty surrounds whether the team will be able to travel and compete amid the growing conflict.
Iranian supporters were already barred from entering the United States under a previous travel restriction. The global governing body for football has not yet clarified whether Iran will be permitted to take part as fighting intensifies and the region faces increasing instability.
