Dubai and Abu Dhabi issue urgent 'no eviction' order for travellers

Hotels in Dubai and Abu Dhabi have been instructed not to evict British tourists stranded by widespread flight cancellations following escalating conflict in the Middle East. The disruption comes after military strikes on Iran by the United States and Israel, followed by retaliatory drone and missile attacks targeting locations across the region, including the United Arab Emirates.

Authorities in Dubai have urged hotels to allow guests who cannot depart to extend their stays under the same terms as their original bookings and stressed that no visitors should be forced to leave. Hotels have also been told to inform tourism officials if guests are unable to cover the cost of additional nights, providing details of their stay and expenses.

In Abu Dhabi, the tourism authority has issued similar guidance and said it will cover the cost of extended stays if necessary. With flights grounded and safety concerns rising, some hotels have moved guests to underground areas, where travellers have shared images of sheltering in car parks while awaiting further updates.
