Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam announced that the government has imposed an immediate ban on any military or security actions conducted from Lebanese territory outside the authority of state institutions. Following an emergency Cabinet session chaired by President Joseph Aoun, officials declared that decisions of war and peace rest exclusively with the state and cannot be undertaken by any independent group.
The Cabinet specifically ordered Hezbollah to cease all armed and security activities and to hand over its weapons to the Lebanese state, limiting its role to political activity within constitutional and legal frameworks. Salam said recent rocket fire toward Israel violated prior government decisions and undermined Lebanon’s credibility.
Military and security agencies were instructed to prevent unauthorized operations, including rocket launches and drone attacks, and to arrest violators. The Army was directed to implement a previously approved plan to restrict weapons north of the Litani River. The government also called on international guarantors to press Israel to halt attacks on Lebanese territory, while reaffirming Lebanon’s commitment to maintaining calm and resuming negotiations with international support.
