The International Atomic Energy Agency said that recent satellite imagery shows no damage to facilities in Iran that contain nuclear material, and there is currently no risk of a radiological release. While two buildings near the Isfahan nuclear site appear to have been damaged, no impact was detected at other key locations, including the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant. At the Natanz site, no additional damage was observed beyond previously reported impacts at its entrances.
The agency confirmed earlier reports that the uranium enrichment facility at Natanz sustained physical damage during recent military strikes carried out as part of Operation Roaring Lion. The organization said it remains in contact with nuclear safety regulators across the Middle East and emphasized the importance of maintaining nuclear safety and security during the ongoing conflict.
Director General Rafael Grossi reiterated concerns about Iran’s stockpile of near-weapons-grade enriched uranium and its refusal to grant inspectors full access. He stated that although there is no evidence that Iran is building a nuclear bomb, the lack of cooperation prevents the agency from assuring that Iran’s nuclear program is exclusively peaceful.
