Britain's Prime Minister Keir Starmer held talks with Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman following Iranian strikes in the region. Starmer confirmed that additional British fighter jets, helicopters, and a naval destroyer are being deployed to the Middle East and said the United Kingdom would support Saudi Arabia's defence if required. Both leaders agreed to increase intelligence cooperation and remain in close contact.
Starmer also spoke with the leaders of France, Germany, and Italy, who condemned Iran's attacks and stressed the need for close coordination over the situation in the Strait of Hormuz. They reiterated concerns about developments in Lebanon and welcomed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's expertise in intercepting drones, underlining continued support for Ukraine.
In a separate call with Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Starmer outlined plans to send additional Typhoon jets to Qatar to bolster regional defences and offered further support to Bahrain after residential areas were targeted by Iranian drones, according to the United States Central Command. Operational teams are set to coordinate further defensive planning in the coming days.
