Israeli tanks continue to mass on Lebanese border

Israeli tanks have massed along the northern border with Lebanon as Israel expands its military campaign across the region. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel has an 'organised plan with many surprises' and declared that the goal is to destabilise Iran's regime, telling Iranian forces they are 'also in our sights.' Strikes have continued in Lebanon and Iran, including attacks on oil storage facilities in Tehran that sent large fires and thick smoke over the capital.

The war began on February 28 following joint United States and Israeli strikes on Iran and has since killed more than 1,200 people in Iran, over 300 in Lebanon and around a dozen in Israel, according to officials. Iranian authorities say thousands of civilian structures have been damaged, including homes, medical centres and commercial buildings. Health officials in Tehran warned residents about toxic smoke and possible acid rain after oil depots were hit.

Iran has responded with missile and drone attacks across the Gulf, with some intercepted over the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. Civilian casualties have been reported from falling debris. Oil prices have surged sharply amid fears of prolonged disruption, with Iranian leaders warning the conflict could further destabilise global energy markets as international leaders move to bolster regional security and protect their nationals.
