Israeli sources have confirmed that a recently targeted site near Tehran was a critical component of Iran’s efforts to rebuild parts of its nuclear weapons development program. The strike, carried out as part of ongoing joint attacks by Israel and the United States, reportedly destroyed a secret facility known as Min Zadai, located on the northeastern outskirts of the capital. Israeli officials said the site played a significant role in advancing weapons-related capabilities necessary for any future nuclear bomb effort.
According to Israeli military officials, intelligence tracking of nuclear scientists traveling clandestinely to the compound revealed renewed activity tied to weapons development. While global attention often centers on uranium enrichment, officials stressed that additional weapons components are essential for delivering a nuclear device. Israel had previously struck dozens of such development sites in June 2025, claiming to have largely dismantled that aspect of Iran’s nuclear program.
The latest claim initially drew skepticism from analysts and a Washington-based research institute, which questioned the extent of the damage and the specific function of the partially underground facility. Satellite imagery showed destruction in a heavily secured area, but uncertainties remained about the underground structures and why some nearby sections appeared undamaged. Despite these doubts, Israeli sources insist the compound was vital to Iran’s attempts to restore its nuclear weapons group infrastructure, making it a significant target in the current campaign.
