El Al unveils rescue flight fares

El Al has unveiled a uniform fare structure for rescue flights to Israel from more than 20 cities after reallocating tickets for passengers whose flights were canceled. The airline says it aims to bring Israelis home while maintaining the lowest possible rescue fares. Tickets are now on sale to the general public through its website and travel agents, with all seats on each flight sold at the same fixed price rather than divided into fare classes.

Despite complaints about high one way ticket prices during the ongoing conflict, El Al’s fares are significantly lower than those of its Israeli competitors on key routes such as Larnaca, Athens, and Rome. Rival carriers argue that, unlike El Al, they lack substantial financial reserves and are facing heavy costs due to grounded aircraft, rising insurance premiums, higher fuel prices, and extended flight paths caused by airspace restrictions and security alerts.

Foreign airlines have largely suspended service to Israel, though some are considering resuming flights. In the meantime, several foreign carriers are operating expanded routes to Taba and Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt, allowingישראels to return via border crossings. Israel’s National Security Council has advised minimizing time spent in Egypt and recommends avoiding longer routes where possible.
