An explosion occurred shortly before 4:00 in the morning outside a synagogue in Liège, Belgium, according to local police. No injuries were reported, but the blast caused significant property damage.
Windows at the front of the synagogue were shattered, and buildings across the street also sustained damage as their windows were blown out. Authorities have closed the street and set up security checkpoints in the immediate area while the investigation continues.
The case is being handled by the counterterrorism unit of the federal judicial police in Liège. An Israeli deputy foreign minister condemned the attack, warning that assaults on Jewish institutions signal growing extremism and urging European authorities to respond firmly to prevent further violence.
