Michigan State Police are responding to an active shooting incident at Temple Israel, a Reform Jewish synagogue in West Bloomfield, Michigan. The shooting began around 12:30 p.m. local time on Thursday, prompting a large law enforcement presence in the area.

Bloomfield Township Police placed Bloomfield Hills schools in secure mode as a precaution, stating there are no known threats to the schools at this time. Authorities have urged community members to avoid the area to allow emergency responders to operate safely.

Additional law enforcement agencies, including the Ann Arbor Police Department, have increased patrols at local houses of worship and schools as a precautionary measure. State police said troopers are also boosting patrols at other places of worship throughout the district while the situation remains active.
