Rising tensions in West Asia following recent Iranian strikes targeting the United Arab Emirates have prompted several information technology companies and global capability centres to activate business continuity measures. These include work from home arrangements, travel advisories and temporary office closures to safeguard employees and maintain operations.
Tata Consultancy Services has asked employees across the Middle East and Africa region to work remotely and has set up structured communication chains to stay connected with staff in affected areas. Infosys has restricted travel to essential trips, while companies such as Wipro, JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs and Standard Chartered have also shifted employees to remote work.
Many multinational firms are increasingly depending on India as a stable hub, with some operating mirror command centres from the country to ensure continuity. Industry leaders say that if instability persists, expansion of global capability centres in India could accelerate as companies seek a dependable base.
Cognizant has advised employees to adopt Bring Your Own Food practices to reduce reliance on office cafeterias and has identified alternate food vendors that do not depend on liquefied petroleum gas. The company is also monitoring transport services amid concerns that higher fuel costs could strain commute operations.
