Iran's armed forces have threatened to ignite oil and gas facilities across the region if the United States or Israel target its energy infrastructure. According to a report by an opposition outlet based in London, Iran's central military headquarters warned that any strike on its energy sites or ports would trigger a crushing and destructive response affecting facilities linked to the United States and its allies.
The warning followed Israeli strikes on fuel depots in Tehran over the weekend, which caused major fires and heavy smoke in the العاصمة. The Israel Defense Forces said the attacks targeted military facilities used by Iran's army and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, stating that civilian infrastructure was not the focus.
Meanwhile, Iran's ambassador to the United Nations said Tehran would not close the Strait of Hormuz, despite comments from the country's new supreme leader suggesting the strategic waterway could be used as leverage. The ambassador emphasized that Iran remains committed to freedom of navigation, while blaming regional instability on what he described as destabilizing actions by the United States.
