The Israel Defense Forces said its 7th Armored Brigade carried out targeted raids in southern Lebanon over the past week, killing dozens of Hezbollah fighters and dismantling weapons depots, command centers, and observation posts. The operations were conducted under the 36th Division as part of an intensified campaign against Hezbollah positions near the Israeli border.
Additional troops, including forces from the Golani Brigade, have been deployed to the northern border following increased militant activity. Military leaders said the expanded presence is intended to provide added protection for communities in northern Israel. Ground operations and artillery strikes have also been widened to support efforts against Hezbollah units in the area.
The escalation comes as diplomatic efforts continue. Lebanon has reportedly accepted a French proposal as a basis for peace talks with Israel, while Israel and the United States are reviewing the framework. The proposal seeks to end the fighting, secure an Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon, and establish a path toward possible Lebanese recognition of Israel.
Meanwhile, Israeli officials are weighing a large-scale ground offensive that would seize territory south of the Litani River and dismantle Hezbollah infrastructure. The plans follow a recent barrage of more than 200 rockets fired at Israel in coordination with Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
