Bringing air force precision fire to light weapons

Smart Shooter, an Israeli developer of advanced gun sights, has gone public on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange at a valuation of 900 million shekels, even as regional conflict intensified. Founded nearly 15 years ago by Michal Mor and Avshalom Erlich, the company has developed a smart fire control system that mounts on rifles and machine guns, using artificial intelligence based image processing to dramatically improve accuracy against ground and aerial targets.

The company gained significant recognition during the recent war, when its systems were used to counter attack drones and in close combat situations. Mor described how the technology helped soldiers make precise shots under extreme pressure, including incidents in which wounded fighters were able to defend themselves effectively. Demand surged after the conflict, with growing sales in Europe and North America alongside continued strong orders from Israel.

Originally inspired by a desire to bring air force level precision to ground troops, the founders adapted missile guidance expertise to lightweight, rugged systems suitable for infantry use. Smart Shooter has since expanded into remotely operated and vehicle mounted platforms that can be controlled from tablets, allowing forces to identify and neutralize threats from a distance.

With a backlog of 35 million dollars in orders and projected annual revenue growth of about 50 percent, the company plans to use funds from the public offering to expand overseas, establish maintenance and assembly centers abroad, and pursue new partnerships. Mor emphasized that while algorithms will play a growing role on future battlefields, human judgment will remain essential.
