At least eight Haredi Jews, including four children, have been attacked in recent weeks in Antwerp, Belgium, amid a rise in antisemitic incidents. Local community organization Shomrim reported that the assaults have increased since the outbreak of the war in Iran, prompting expanded street patrols in Jewish neighborhoods.
The heightened tensions follow an explosion outside a synagogue in Liège on March 9 at 4:00 in the morning. The blast damaged nearby buildings but caused no injuries. The mayor of Liège described the act as 'criminal and antisemitic,' and police are continuing their investigation without any arrests so far.
Similar incidents have occurred in the Netherlands, including an attack on a Jewish school in Amsterdam and an attempted arson at a synagogue in Rotterdam. Jewish community leaders across the region have urged authorities to strengthen security measures to prevent further violence.
