An intelligence assessment shared with President Donald Trump, Vice President J D Vance and other senior officials following the killing of Iran's supreme leader revealed that he had opposed the idea of his son Mojtaba succeeding him. The report indicated that the elder leader doubted his son's capabilities and considered him unfit to govern.
According to officials familiar with the assessment, intelligence gathered by the United States suggested that the supreme leader was also aware of concerns related to his son's personal life. These issues further contributed to his reluctance to support Mojtaba as a potential successor.
