Almost all restrictive release conditions on Jonatan Urich, a senior aide to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, were lifted by the Rishon Lezion Magistrate's Court, allowing him to resume contact and work with the premier after a year-long ban. The decision followed an agreement between Urich's attorneys and police. However, he remains barred from leaving the country and from discussing the ongoing investigations with Netanyahu or others involved.
Urich is a central suspect in two major affairs involving alleged leaks and financial misconduct. He, along with former spokesman Eli Feldstein and former campaign adviser Yisrael Einhorn, is accused of accepting money to promote a favorable public relations campaign for Qatar after the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack, despite Qatar's backing of the group. Urich faces suspicions including contact with a foreign agent, bribery, fraud, breach of trust, and money laundering.
In a related development, police chose not to appeal a court ruling lifting restrictions on Tzachi Braverman, Netanyahu's former chief of staff. While Braverman may now contact the prime minister, he is still prohibited from discussing the case or communicating with others connected to the investigation. Braverman is suspected of attempting to interfere in a probe related to leaked classified intelligence.
