Iranian authorities have arrested 500 people accused of sharing intelligence with Israel and the United States, according to the country’s police chief. About half of the cases reportedly involve serious incidents, including providing targeting information and sending footage of strike locations. Officials did not specify when the arrests occurred.
State-affiliated media reported additional regional detentions, including 20 people in the northwest accused of sending details about military and security sites to Israel, and 10 in the northeast suspected of gathering information on sensitive and economic locations. Authorities also announced arrests in other provinces for allegedly attempting to incite unrest and disrupt public order.
Iranian officials claimed that Israel and the United States are activating spies and collaborators to destabilize the country alongside ongoing military tensions. Iran has a history of arresting and executing individuals accused of espionage for Israel, including several cases over the past year involving allegations of sharing classified information related to security and nuclear personnel.
