Lauding Israeli help, Trump intensifies pressure on China, others to help secure Hormuz Strait

President Donald Trump said he has asked about seven countries to send warships to help keep the Strait of Hormuz open during the ongoing conflict with Iran, but so far none have publicly committed. He argued that nations heavily dependent on Middle Eastern oil, particularly China, should take the lead in securing the vital shipping route, noting that the United States relies far less on oil પસ through the strait.

Trump praised Israel for coordinating with the United States to protect the waterway and warned that allies who fail to assist could face consequences. He suggested that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization could face a 'very bad' future if members do not help and indicated he might delay an upcoming summit with China's leader. Despite his lobbying, countries including Britain, Japan, Germany, and Australia signaled reluctance or legal and political constraints in joining a naval coalition.

Reports indicate the administration is considering announcing a multinational maritime coalition and weighing further measures against Iran, including targeting key oil infrastructure if tanker access continues to be blocked. Iran has said the strait remains open to most countries but not to the United States and its allies, while acknowledging requests from several nations for safe passage.

As oil prices hover near one hundred dollars per barrel, administration officials predicted the conflict would end within weeks and expressed confidence that prices would fall quickly once hostilities cease. Meanwhile, the International Energy Agency announced the release of more than four hundred million barrels of emergency oil reserves to stabilize global markets.
