Iran's Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Larijani has publicly criticized Gulf and other Islamic nations for what he described as their failure to support Iran during its ongoing war with the United States and Israel. In a message addressed to Muslims worldwide, he said that with few political exceptions, no Islamic country had stood by the Iranian people, while asserting that Iran had nonetheless managed to overcome its adversaries.
Larijani framed the conflict as a struggle between the United States and Israel on one side and what he called Muslim Iran and the forces of resistance on the other. Quoting a Shia religious text, he questioned the commitment of Muslim nations that, in his view, had not responded to Iran's calls for solidarity. He also rejected accusations that Iran had acted aggressively toward Gulf states following strikes on American interests in their territories, arguing that Iran could not remain passive while bases there were used to launch attacks against it.
Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi echoed the criticism, saying some neighboring countries hosting American forces were enabling attacks on Iran and even encouraging violence against Iranians. He claimed that hundreds of civilians, including more than 200 children, had been killed in joint Israeli and American strikes and called on regional governments to clarify their positions.
