Trump: 'Struck more than 7,000 targets': Donald Trump says Iran has been 'literally obliterated' as he presses allies to help reopen Strait of Hormuz - The Times of India

United States President Donald Trump said American forces have 'literally obliterated' Iran's military capabilities, claiming that more than 7,000 targets have been struck since the conflict began. He said Iran's air force, navy, air defenses, radar systems and command structure had been devastated, with over 100 naval vessels destroyed and major reductions in ballistic missile launches and drone attacks.

Trump stated that the campaign has targeted missile and drone manufacturing sites as well as military and commercial facilities, and that key infrastructure on Kharg Island was hit while oil pipelines were intentionally left intact. He said Iran's ability to rebuild its defense industrial base is nearing zero.

Despite asserting battlefield gains, Trump warned that the Strait of Hormuz remains vulnerable due to its narrow geography and Iran's capacity for short-range attacks. He urged other nations to help secure the vital shipping route, through which a significant share of the world's oil supply passes.

However, several allies including Germany, Japan, Italy and Australia signaled reluctance or refusal to participate in escort missions, while Britain and others expressed caution. Trump warned that a lack of support could have serious consequences for the future of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
