Amazon is expanding its rapid delivery services with new one-hour and three-hour options across several cities in the United States, intensifying competition with Walmart. Chief Executive Officer Andy Jassy announced the move, saying the initiative is designed to help customers handle everyday needs such as groceries, household supplies, and last-minute essentials.
The service will cover more than 90,000 products, including groceries, electronics, and cleaning supplies. One-hour delivery is available in hundreds of cities, while three-hour delivery has rolled out to more than 2,000 locations, ranging from major metropolitan areas to smaller towns and suburbs. Customers can access these options through the existing same-day shopping experience, with dedicated filters and storefront pages highlighting eligible items.
Delivery fees vary by membership status. Prime members pay lower fees for one-hour and three-hour delivery and continue to receive same-day delivery at no additional cost, while non-members pay higher charges. The company said the service operates seven days a week and will expand to additional locations in the future.
