Approximately 4,000 Israelis have been evacuated to hotels after missile and rocket strikes damaged homes during Operation Roaring Lion. Authorities say evacuations and assistance are now being carried out more quickly, with 25 hotels operating across 26 municipalities to house displaced residents.
The National Emergency Management Authority has streamlined coordination between local authorities and the Property Tax Authority, enabling faster hotel placements and direct financial assistance. A standard payment framework provides immediate support to affected households, while efforts also focus on speeding up property compensation and infrastructure repairs, including reducing electricity restoration times to about two hours in damaged areas.
Officials are also addressing broader preparedness gaps, such as ensuring food reserves, maintaining essential services, and reinforcing national infrastructure protection. Wireless internet access is being expanded in northern shelters to accommodate prolonged stays, and continuity plans are in place for clinics, post offices, and cash access systems.
With concerns that additional regional actors could join the conflict, reinforcement measures have been implemented in the south, including in Eilat, where several impact sites were reported. Medical teams have been bolstered nationwide, and authorities are preparing for the possibility of several more weeks of fighting.
