Global air travel remains heavily disrupted after the war in Iran led to widespread airspace closures across the Middle East, shutting down major hubs such as Dubai, Doha and Abu Dhabi. Tens of thousands of passengers have been stranded as airlines around the world suspend or reduce services to destinations across the region.
Carriers from Europe, North America and Asia have canceled flights to cities including Tel Aviv, Beirut, Riyadh, Amman and Tehran, with many suspensions lasting through late March and April, and some extending into the summer and autumn. Several airlines are avoiding the airspace of Iran, Iraq, Syria and Israel entirely, further complicating flight routes and schedules.
While a handful of Middle Eastern airlines are operating limited or reduced services following partial reopenings of some airspace, most international carriers continue to warn of prolonged disruption. Airlines are adjusting schedules, delaying planned route resumptions and adding capacity elsewhere as the industry grapples with one of the most significant regional shutdowns in recent years.
