Egyptian authorities confirmed the release of the body of Or Elihai Marciano, a 29 year old Israeli man who was killed in a road accident in the Sinai Peninsula earlier this week. Marciano, a resident of Susya in the southern Hebron Hills, will be laid to rest on Friday at the regional cemetery in his community.
Marciano was traveling with a group of Breslov hasidim on their way to Uman, Ukraine, when their vehicle overturned near Sharm El Sheikh. The group had taken a complex route through Egypt due to security concerns and flight cancellations from Israel. They were seeking to reach a traditional gathering marking the beginning of the Hebrew month of Nissan and the birthday of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov.
Marciano was killed at the scene, while another passenger sustained moderate injuries, including leg fractures. He is survived by his wife and two young daughters, and was remembered by his community as a devoted and kind individual who worked to spread teachings and unity.
