The North Atlantic Treaty Organization has withdrawn all personnel from its advisory mission in Iraq as the conflict involving Iran intensifies and destabilizes the wider region. Several hundred troops were relocated from the Middle East to Europe, according to alliance officials, who thanked Iraq and member countries for supporting the safe transfer.
In recent days, countries including Poland, Spain, and Croatia also announced the withdrawal of their forces from the region, citing security concerns linked to the expanding conflict. The alliance emphasized that the mission in Iraq did not have a combat role but focused on advising and strengthening Iraqi security forces.
The operation will now continue from a military headquarters in Naples, Italy. Leadership praised the professionalism and dedication of the personnel involved, stating that advisory efforts would persist despite the relocation.
