Authorities in the United Arab Emirates announced that they dismantled what they described as a terrorist network funded and operated by Lebanon's Hezbollah and Iran, arresting its members. Officials said the group engaged in money laundering, financing terrorism and activities that threatened national security.
According to the state news agency, the network operated under a fictitious commercial cover and attempted to infiltrate the national economy while carrying out external schemes aimed at undermining financial stability. Hezbollah denied the allegations, stating it has no presence in the United Arab Emirates or any other country under any cover.
The announcement follows similar claims by Kuwait earlier in the week about alleged Hezbollah-linked cells. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned attacks targeting the United Arab Emirates and denounced the involvement of Hezbollah elements in the alleged sabotage plots, amid ongoing regional tensions involving Iran and Gulf countries.
