Israel has assessed that Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is still alive, though reportedly injured. According to a security source, he may have sustained injuries to his eye and leg but is not believed to be in life-threatening condition. Officials say he is conscious but possibly unable to appear in public.
The same source suggested that the Revolutionary Guards are currently managing state affairs and issuing statements in Khamenei's name, describing the situation inside Iran as unusual and unclear.
Conflicting claims have emerged from outside the country. Exiled Iranian journalist Amir Farshad Ebrahimi alleged that Khamenei died last week after falling into a coma, citing information from a source within the leader's security unit. He claimed Khamenei had been hospitalized with severe injuries and that authorities had stationed teams at multiple hospitals to conceal his location. According to this account, Iran has delayed any announcement due to uncertainty over succession.
