Iran has threatened to strike Israeli power plants if its own energy facilities are attacked, according to a statement broadcast on state television. The announcement comes as tensions rise ahead of a deadline set by United States President Donald Trump related to the Strait of Hormuz.

In the statement, Iran said it would retaliate against the 'occupying regime' by targeting Israeli power plants and also the energy infrastructure of regional countries that supply electricity to United States bases. It added that economic, industrial and energy facilities in which Americans have interests could also be targeted.

The warning signals a potential expansion of hostilities beyond direct military targets, raising concerns about the vulnerability of critical infrastructure across the region.
