The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has warned that Iran will retaliate against any attack on its electricity sector by targeting Israeli power plants and facilities supplying electricity to United States bases in the region. The statement came after the United States president warned that Iranian power plants would be struck if Tehran did not reopen the Strait of Hormuz to all shipping within 48 hours. The Iranian force declared, 'If you hit electricity, we hit electricity,' signaling a policy of direct retaliation.
The latest statement appeared to walk back earlier threats against water desalination facilities in Gulf countries. Iranian officials accused the United States president of misrepresenting their intentions regarding regional water infrastructure.
According to Israeli media, Iran has shifted from a defensive regional posture to a more aggressive wartime strategy. Reported actions include intensified strikes on Gulf energy infrastructure, missile launches toward Dimona, and a long range strike targeting a United States base in the Indian Ocean. Tehran has also threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz, impose transit fees, expand cooperation with Houthi forces, and consider additional strikes in the region.
Sources cited in the report said Iran's leadership is adopting a hardline stance, with more extreme factions gaining influence and showing little regard for civilian or infrastructure damage. Despite growing economic pressure from sanctions and wartime disruptions, the report indicated that internal strain is not yet expected to alter the government's course.
