The United States Embassy in Jerusalem has begun organizing assisted overland departures for United States citizens seeking to leave Israel through Jordan. Starting Monday, buses are departing from designated locations in the Jerusalem and Tel Aviv areas and traveling to Queen Alia International Airport in Amman via the Jordan River and Sheikh Hussein border crossing.
Citizens who wish to participate must complete an online registration form provided by the embassy. Those confirmed for travel receive specific departure times and meeting point details. Travelers are responsible for arranging and paying for their onward flights from Amman, as well as any necessary overnight accommodations and border crossing fees.
The State Department said it remains focused on the safety and security of United States citizens in Israel, the West Bank, and Gaza. The embassy urged those who remain in the region to be prepared to shelter in place, follow instructions from local authorities, and enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program to receive security updates and emergency communications.
