IAF reservist accused of leaking Iran strike details for profit via Polymarket betting

A reservist major in the Israel Air Force has been accused of leaking classified information about the timing of an Israeli strike in Iran to a friend who used it to place online bets for profit. The indictment, filed by the Tel Aviv District Court, states that the officer attended a closed security briefing in June where the date of the operation was disclosed and then shared the details despite signing a confidentiality agreement.

Prosecutors allege that the reservist sent a message indicating the attack would occur on the night of June 12, two days before the launch of Operation Rising Lion. His friend subsequently placed a wager on the Polymarket platform predicting that the strike would happen before July, allegedly increasing the bet at the officer’s urging.

The bet reportedly generated winnings of 162,663 dollars. Authorities claim the information was also passed to five additional individuals and that the incident reflects a broader pattern of using sensitive security information for financial gain. The investigation is ongoing.
