A man in his 50s was shot and killed on Yefet Street in Jaffa on Saturday in an attack that also left his underage son injured. The two were at a local kiosk when an unidentified gunman opened fire, critically wounding the father and moderately injuring the son. The father later died at the hospital, while the son was treated for leg wounds.
Police have launched an investigation, collecting evidence and searching for the suspect. Authorities believe the killing was criminal in nature and may have been an assassination that originated outside Jaffa before spilling into the city.
The killing marks the 66th homicide in Israeli Arab society since the start of 2026. The Abraham Initiatives, an organization promoting partnership between Jewish and Arab citizens, said the attack shattered another family and called on the government to urgently address the ongoing crime crisis within the country.
