Israel is entering what it describes as the 'completion phase' of its month-long war against Iran, having nearly finished striking the military and strategic targets identified at the outset of the conflict. The Israeli military says it has carried out hundreds of waves of airstrikes, hitting air defense systems, ballistic missile launchers, weapons production facilities, headquarters and some nuclear sites, while killing numerous senior Iranian officials.
According to Israeli defense officials, the campaign has severely degraded Iran’s military production capabilities and set back its weapons programs by years. They also claim to have largely achieved their goal of weakening the regime and creating conditions that could enable internal unrest, though it remains unclear whether such upheaval will materialize.
With most military targets now struck, Israel’s political leadership has ordered a shift toward economic targets tied to the Iranian regime. Recent strikes have reportedly hit major gas infrastructure and large steel factories, aiming to inflict significant financial damage. Additional economic attacks are said to be planned, although Israel has temporarily refrained from targeting certain energy facilities amid diplomatic pressure and a deadline set by the United States for a potential agreement to end the war.
