Israeli reserve duty is keeping many families apart during the Passover holiday, as soldiers remain deployed amid ongoing tensions following the October 7 attacks. Sarit said her husband, Eliav, has been away for extended periods, including a continuous five month deployment, and will spend the Seder stationed in Lebanon.
At home, Sarit will celebrate with their three children, who struggle to understand their father's repeated absences. She said they keep asking why he has to leave again and when he will return.
Communication has been limited, adding to the strain. Sarit said she has not spoken to Eliav since last week and has only received brief updates through representatives from his unit confirming that he is safe.
