Gasoline prices in Israel are set to rise sharply at midnight on April 1, 2026, with the maximum price of government controlled 95 octane gasoline at self service pumps increasing by 1.08 shekels per liter to 8.05 shekels per liter. The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure announced the hike, citing the impact of the ongoing war.
Fuel prices are calculated at the end of each month based on average fuel costs in the Mediterranean region and the shekel to dollar exchange rate. The final price also reflects marketing margins for gas stations and government taxes.
The increase follows a surge in global oil prices linked to the war with Iran. The price of Brent crude oil has climbed from 70 dollars to 110 dollars per barrel over the past month, compared with 60 dollars per barrel at the start of the year. The new price will exceed recent highs, surpassing the previous peak of 7.90 shekels per liter recorded in May 2024.
