President Donald Trump's Board of Peace has received less than one billion dollars of the seventeen billion dollars pledged for Gaza's reconstruction, according to sources familiar with the matter. The shortfall has stalled plans to rebuild the devastated enclave and to install a new governing body meant to replace Hamas after disarmament and an Israeli troop withdrawal.
Only three of the ten countries that promised funding have transferred money so far, with regional conflict and renewed instability further complicating efforts. A proposed National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, made up of Palestinian technocrats, has been unable to enter Gaza due to both security concerns and a lack of funds.
Disarmament talks between Israel and Hamas remain deadlocked, with each side demanding guarantees before taking further steps. Meanwhile, reconstruction costs are projected to reach seventy billion dollars, and fears persist that fighting could resume if negotiations collapse.
